Now that summer is in full swing and back yard bbqs are popping off, here are our 5 tips on how to impress your family and friends to throw the perfect summer party.
No party is fit without a theme! Summer is an easy time to keep it casual without having to go overboard. Try incorporating small decorations like fun centerpieces, flowers and tabletop elements to create a cohesive aesthetic. A tablescape setting can really enhance the overall motif and create a lasting impression. Some of our favorite summer themes are Luau or Tropical, Flamingo Party and a Hint of Citrus: think lemons, watermelon or pineapples. Don’t want to commit to a theme? Simply choose a color palette that you can match easily with elements like drink-ware and silverware.
2. Feature a Signature Cocktail
There is no better way to cool down on a hot summer day than with a refreshing cocktail. A summer spritzer is an easy way to make a statement at party. A nice bevy can be dressed up with a gorgeous drink display or pretty pitcher. Enhance the drink with a fun garnish like cucumbers or herbs. Don’t forget to make a mock-tail version so everyone can indulge in the fun!
3. Create conversation starters
Everyone loves to gravitate towards the food table at a party, so try to make conversational pockets throughout the whole home so that people can spread out and mingle. Try setting up a snack table away from the main dishes so people have a reason to move throughout the home or backyard. Add multiple seating areas so that people can have their own space. Games are also a great way to get a conversation started and keep people entertained. Don’t be afraid to break out those corn hole boards or even a deck of cards.
4. Set the mood
What’s worse then dead air? Nothing. No party is fit without great background music. Try throwing on your favorite summer hits or make a playlist that everyone will enjoy. Feeling uninspired or don’t have the time to make your own playlist? Spotify has tons of great summer playlists that are already made for you.
5. Don’t let bugs bog down your party
Okay we were wrong. There is something worse than dead air and that’s getting bit by bugs all night long. Summer is a wonderful time of year, but the bugs… not so much. Set up citronella candles or bug zappers around the outdoor area and provide bug spray for your guests. Trust me, they will appreciate it!
